Local Agent to Be Featured on House Hunters

Vicki Larmee, Buyer’s Agent for the Real Estate One Toth Team in Dexter, will be showcased on the House Hunters show this Thursday. The program will air at 10:00 p.m. on Home and Garden TV (HGTV).

House Hunters, hosted by Suzanne Whang, allows viewers to accompany a Realtor® and the buyers she represents as they search for their new home. The program focuses on the emotional experience of finding a home as well as the process itself, from start to finish.

Larmee worked with her family about a year ago. She said it was fun having “Hollywood” in town, but that the program doesn’t really mimic the whole home buying experience. On the show, buyers are only given three homes from which to choose. According to the National Association of Realtor’s annual survey, the average home buyer actually looks at nine homes over an eight week period before they buy a home. Web surfers traditionally require a little less time. Having the ability to search homes via the net allows them to “preview” homes and select only the most interesting homes to visit.

Larmee affirms that the Web has greatly changed the way real estate is “done”. She is not surprised that Web surfers were more likely to use a real estate agent. “While the Web is a great place to do your home work about the market and to preview homes you might consider, the wealth of information reaffirms the necessity of having a professional work with you through the process.”

Toth describes the benefits of working with a team. “I do a lot of listing work, but when someone calls for information about a home I have for sale, I want to connect them with an agent that will represent them in the process. I really work for the seller, and although it is legal to represent both sides in a transaction, I’m not comfortable representing both.”
